school closure update

Messages from the Head Teacher:

Please see our letter dated 19.05.2020 for the latest information regarding the phased re-opening of school from 1st June onwards.

Childcare Update

While the school remains closed, we continue to offer childcare to our vulnerable families and to children of critical workers, whose children cannot be cared for at home. Please ensure that children bring a water bottle to school with them, every day that they attend.

We have now made contact with all of our parents who are critical workers, and our vulnerable families, to arrange childcare provision over the past few weeks and for the coming weeks.  Should you need to contact me to discuss your childcare needs, please email me via

Free School Meals

We are aware that during this current national emergency, some families will face challenges they have not faced before.

Children are entitled to receive Free School Meals if their parent(s) are in receipt of any of the following means-tested benefits:

  • Universal Credit (provided you have an annual net earned income of no more than £7,400, as assessed by earnings from up to three of your most recent assessment periods).
  • Income Support (IS).
  • Income-based Jobseekers Allowance (IBJSA).
  • Income-related Employment and Support Allowance (IRESA).
  • The guaranteed element of State Pension Credit.
  • Support under Part VI of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999.
  • Child Tax Credit (provided you’re not also entitled to Working Tax Credit and have an annual gross income as assessed by Her Majesty’s Revenue and Customs, that does not exceed £16,190).
  • Working Tax Credit run-on  (the payment you get for a further 4 weeks after you stop qualifying for Working Tax Credit).

We would encourage all of our families to complete the online application for Free School Meals, to check if your child is eligible. Applications need to be made online via the Devon County Council Citizen Portal and you will receive an instant decision.

If your child is now entitled to free school meals, please contact us via the school email address - with either a screenshot of the confirmation or your child's unique Free School Meals reference number - and we will get back to you.

Year 6 Leavers

If your child is currently in Year 6, please see the messages on Tapestry regarding submitting your child's tutor group friendship preferences to CCC.

Kind regards,

Mrs Leanne Arrowsmith,
Head Teacher
